đŸ€” WILL THE MEN LIVE UP TO THE USA vs. CANADA HYPE?

NHL 4 Nations Face-Off logo

The United States and Canada will compete in the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off Final tonight. As someone who got into hockey through the women’s game, I wonder

Can the Men’s 4 Nations Tournament match the energy of the Rivalry Series?

The Rise of an annual Rivalry Series

The United States vs. Canada ‘Rivalry Series’ began in 2018-19 on the heels of USA Hockey’s first Olympic Gold Medal in 20 years (PyeongChang Winter Games).

The timing aligned perfectly with having a US-centric hockey fan base more invested in the Olympics, given the gold medal. It didn’t hurt that the winning shootout goal by Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson had a catchy and absolutely savage name inspired by a Brittney Spears song.

Can 4 Nations Deliver?

Early returns say yes!

Although I’m not a huge fan of fighting in hockey, the three fights in nine seconds in the preliminary round brought attention to the NHL they haven’t seen in some time.

A fist full of North American animosity Thursday night yielded 4.4 million viewers in the United States. That’s almost double the best NHL All-Star Game (2.64 million in 2004) and better than the first six games in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

That makes me wonder

Will the NHL keep this format? It’s worked in women’s hockey to drum up support for the International Game and the domestic leagues.

The NHL, in theory, doesn’t need that. But there appears to be an opportunity to use the “best on best” format instead of the All-Star Weekend. All this comes the same week as the second-lowest viewed NBA All-Star Weekend.

I’d love to see an International format instead of the current NHL ASG format, though I hope the league and broadcast partners do more to highlight more than just the North American players and teams.

Where to Find the Best Deals on Hoka Shoes

Are you a runner? More specifically, a road runner? Hoka was built for that. Meaning “to fly” in Maori, Hoka was founded in 2009 so that runners could get the ultimate experience with optimum cushioning and stability. Less than 15 years after its founding, Hoka is bringing in revenues topping a billion dollars a year, so it’s clear that people are loving this brand. But with quality comes high prices, and Hoka is no doubt in the high end price-wise. So we’ve rounded up the best stores to find the best deals for Hoka.
